A little something about DJ Josh

I have been fascinated with music ever since I was a child, playing both piano and bagpipes provided me with some great experiences growing up. As I grew older, I played in heavy metal and rock bands, electro hip-hop groups, worked as a sound engineer, and helped write and produce original music. I got into DJing as a favour to good friends for their wedding and loved it so much I decided to pursue the art further. I'm passionate about lighting and effects and feel a visual experience is just as important as the music. I also have experience in the restaurant and catering as well as experience working in the TV/Film industry.

Favorite music, artists, and genres

There's a music to fit any mood, my favorites are always changing. My personal playlists will include everything from Classical and Oldies to Top 40 and Future Bass. I will always hold Motown dear to my heart from early childhood exposure thanks to my mom. As a keyboard player, anything with cool piano or synths will always find its way onto my playlists.

 

When I'm not DJing weddings I can be found

Usually in studio working on some music with friends, or out enjoying shows. Our city is full of amazing artists and events, but I also really enjoy hiking and getting to see some of BC's beautiful scenery. If I'm having an "indoor" day I've been known to binge-watch good Netflix shows or play some card games.

 

On Being a Wedding DJ

I love my job! I feel that being well rounded musically and having attention to detail is key to crafting the right playlists to match the vibe for your wedding. No two couples are exactly alike and using music and lights as tools to set the mood and atmosphere for your special day is one of my favorite things to do. I feel lucky and honored to be a guest at your wedding and to perform for your family and friends.
