A little Something about DJ Freshleecut

Hi there! My name is Chris and I am a mobile DJ, MC and Host who has been a proud member of the Absolute Entertainment team since 2012.

Length of Time as DJ

I have been a DJ since the late eighties when I began playing with cassette tapes at my elementary school dances. In 2012 I made the transition from an enthusiastic hobbyist to a full time mobile DJ specializing in everything from intimate soirees and gorgeous weddings to huge corporate galas and sweaty graduations.

 

Favorite Music Artists and Genres

One of the amazing things about my job is that I am constantly exposed to new music! I am a fan of all genres and truly believe that if someone out there loves it there must be a reason.

Having said that, of course everyone has their personal favorite styles or eras and mine would include 50s rock n roll, 60s soul, 70s funk, 80s rock and 90s hip-hop. I’m a huge fan of music in the 21st century and enjoy everything from deep house and electro to artists such as Bruno Mars, Major Laser and Kendrick Lamar.

Having studied music at the university level I learned a deep appreciation for classical and jazz idioms and enjoy programming ceremony and cocktail playlists almost as much as I love building up a raging dancefloor.

When DJ Feshleecut is not DJing weddings, he can be found out with my wife and 2 year old son at a local park, play area or rec centre. We enjoy hiking, reading books and listening to music together and occasionally on our own.

I am also a live musician who plays guitar, trumpet and sings with a variety of projects in the Vancouver area.

 

On being a Wedding DJ

Wedding DJs really do have the best job in the world! 

For one special day I’m invited into the very heart of a couple’s family so that I can help create a magical atmosphere with music and lighting. For me there could be nothing more rewarding than providing the perfectly selected soundtrack for such a special celebration.

Working in such a positive and loving environment is so inspiring that I’m often making friends and having the time of my life – almost as if I were on the guest list rather than the vendor list!
